STEP 1: Our seed sourced from Australia, France and Germany
Surprisingly, there aren’t many seed producers for perennials in Australia, so much of our seed is sourced from France or Germany.
Our seeds have been selected for their low growing features (generally up to 75 mm in height), their suitability to the Australian climate, their ability to grow in diminished light if needed, and of course, their beauty as plants!
Our seeds are then sent to the Netherlands for coating. This process coats the seeds in bright yellow, which increases their size, thereby facilitating ease of handling.
Our greenhouse, clad in twin walled polycarbonate, is pretty high tech and the systems within are controlled by computer. Evaporatively cooled air is pulled through the greenhouse by large fans to cool the growing environment, solar screens that open and close to deflect the high levels of UV light in summer and trap accumulated energy in the greenhouse over winter.
Our trays, like our products, are unique and are created using an injection moulding process. The legs of the trays are designed specifically to protect the Living Tiles in transport.
